At Crypto, Culture and Society, we’re building the liberal arts college for crypto and, as in the liberal arts, we see deep value in debate and considering different perspectives.
In the last few months, we’ve seen some thoughtful criticism of where web3 is, where it’s headed, and some equally well-thought-out rebuttals. In this living resource, we’ve tried to capture some of the criticism we’ve found particularly interesting.

We have selected the various facets of arguments: cultural 🏛️, technical ⌨️, business 📈, environmental 🌲, and political economy 🧑⚖️ arguments.
We also labeled each piece with their respective levels, essentially how easy or complex we find a particular piece. Level 1
- easy read, Level 2
- going deeper, Level 3
- complex. Every piece we’ve included has been hand-picked, so be assured we consider each worth inclusion.
